You're bringing home a new baby. You've read all the postpartum books, bought the fancy baby stuff, and your newsfeed is overflowing with postpartum info.
You prepared. You learned. But now that your baby is here, you realize there is still so much that you don't know.
You know the next few weeks (and months) are going to be hard, and you want real, practical support (not just people offering to hold your cute baby).
You see so clearly the sleepless nights, hormone shifts, and challenges in front of you... and you want guidance and support without the pressure of someone telling you what you "should do."
And even though you KNOW you can do it, you don't want to get through postpartum alone.
You don't want to take on all the baby care by yourself... you don't want to stress about cooking and cleaning... You don't want to feel overwhelmed by learning how to parent.. Instead, you'd rather reach out and have real, practical support while you figure out this next stage of your life.
I mean, who wouldn't?!
✨ You're pregnant and know that you'll want practical help in your first weeks (or months!) postpartum.
✨ You're in the thick of postpartum and WANT help with infant care, and feeding, light housekeeping, and your postpartum wellbeing.
✨ A nap in the middle of the afternoon would make ALL THE DIFFERENCE.
✨ You don't want your postpartum to be a solo journey, and are ready to ask for help.
🌟 You think you are supposed to do everything yourself.
🌟 You hate asking for help or get upset when someone offers it.
🌟You aren't open to suggestions and don't really care for evidence-backed advice.
🌟 You are looking for someone to look after your baby while you run errands and go out to lunch.
🌟Your support system is looking after your emotional, physical, and mental needs.
✨ Get expert, evidence-based postpartum support and education from an experienced doula and birth researcher...
✨Have someone on speed dial to answer every "is this normal?" question you have...
✨ Take a break from meal prep, dishes, laundry, or whatever else you have on your plate...
✨Have help navigating the newborn stage...
✨ And have someone look after you...
Then I would LOVE to be your postpartum doula.
You just need an occasional break or extra set of hands.
$37/hour, 3 hour minimum
You want more regular support! A Shoulder to Lean on includes twelve hours of support, broken in four, three-hour shifts.
$420.00
You want someone to work with you over the next few months, every step of the way. It Take a Village includes twenty-four hours of support, that you can schedule to fit your needs (3 hour shift minimum)
$800.00
✨ Unlimited text, call, and email support throughout the length of the contract (you've got questions, I've got answers).
✨ Infant feeding support (lactation or bottle feeding)
✨ Complete infant care
✨ Back up Doula (just in case!)
✨ Postpartum care support (because baby isn't the only one who needs looking after).
✨Meal preparation (according to your recipes and tastes!)
✨Light housework (sweeping, laundry, dishes, etc).
✨ Acommpaniment to appointments and outings.
✨ALL OF MY RESOURCES, TOOLS, HANDOUTS, GUIDANCE AND SUPPORT
Note: Postpartum Support is available in-person for clients in Halifax, Bedford, Dartmouth, and the surrounding area. I do provide virtual postpartum support for client living elsewhere. If you live outside the HRM, please reach out to info@collectivecare.ca.
Book a 30-minute chat with me! We'll talk about what your postpartum is like, and how I can support you in making postpartum work for you. This is a chance for us to get to know each other better-- I CAN'T WAIT TO MEET YOU.
After our 30-minute chat, I'll send you a copy of the contract for you to review. This will include the specific terms of my support, my postpartum schedule, and the payment plan you decide to opt-for. Take your time and think about it. I'll follow up with you 3-5 days later.
Once we've signed the contract, I'm your postpartum doula! I'll be available to you by email, text, or call whenever you have questions or need to talk. We can schedule our time together according to the package you choose.
My postpartum support extends for the length of the contract. If you are looking for longterm support (over several months), we can adjust the contract accordingly.
Please reach me at info@collectivecare.ca if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Just the number of hours your are booking! I offer a reduced rate to client who book more hours/larger packages with me. The care I provide is the same whether I see you once, or every week for a year.
Yes! If you want postpartum support for an extended period of time, I would be happy to create a long term contract for you. The hourly rate applicable in the "It Takes a Village" package-- $30/hr-- would be used.
Nope. If you want to book one when you sign the contract, and book the others later on, that's fine! Just know that I do book up a few weeks in advance-- I might not be available last minute!
Yes! You can find all the info on my Sleep Support page.
No, I don't do unattended childcare. For a couple of reasons:
1) My training is as a postpartum doula-- my role is to "mother" both the birthing parent and the new baby. Unattended childcare is outside of my scope of practice.
2) My hourly rate is typically much higher than a babysitter. If you are looking for a babysitter or nanny, I am happy to make recommendations.
I offer a limited number of scholarships for my Supportive Starts program annually. Unfortunately, I cannot offer discounts on my Postpartum Support Packages. If financial investment is a concern, please reach out to me at info@collectivecare.ca-- I would be happy to recommend other doulas or support programs.
I do provide postpartum support outside of the HRM on a case by case basis. If you live outside the HRM and are looking for in-person support, my fees may be adjusted to include mileage. Or I may be able to provide postpartum support virtually. Please reach out to me at info@collectivecare.ca to chat about how I can best support you.
Before becoming a doula, I was a birth researcher for 14 years. I worked on research projects about infertility, the medicalization of childbirth, pregnancy experiences, motherhood and mothering, and how pregnancy and birth happen in different places around the world. I have a PhD in Reproductive Anthropology and Gender Studies. My last major research project was about experiences of pregnancy and birth in Sweden. I did research by spending time with pregnant people and their families.
I did my certification as a birth and postpartum doula through Doula Canada. I have also completed training in perinatal mental health, supporting water births, and pelvic physiology.
Yes! I am happy to provide proof of insurance, as well a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check on request.
To protect the privacy of my clients, I do not offer direct references-- I will not give you past clients contact info. I will provide testimonials from previous clients upon request.
