I quit my full-time in 2023 to become a birth doula. Crazy, right? It was hands down the BEST decision of my life.
And all of it happened because of this big " AH-HA!"
In 2023, I realized that despite having spent 14 years of my life researching birth, I was terrified to GIVE BIRTH. And don't even get me started on postpartum..
All those years of research taught me that the BIGGEST factor in having a "good" birth, and not struggling once your bring baby home wasn't knowledge. It was COMMUNITY. Having someone to talk to when you are scared. Having someone listen, without judgement. Having someone to hold baby while you get some much needed sleep. Or, please, just someone to give you a reliable answer!
And despite having a great partner, friends and family (and Dr. Google at my finger tips), I didn't feel I had the people I would need to support me.
So, I decided to be that someone. Since 2023, I've supported pregnant people, first-time moms, fathers, babies, and families. I've answered late night phone calls. I've stayed overnight to help with feeding and infant sleep. I've shared what I learned while my nose was buried in ALL THE BOOKS.
And now I wake up EVERYDAY excited because not only do I get to support people through one of the biggest life changes they will ever have... now I get to bring those people and families together to support each other.
And the best part of my story? You can be part of it too.
